HOUSE OF FATES

From the aspect of lighting technology, the House of Fates imposed serious challenge to the engineers of Be light (official SIMES distributor in Hungary). Architect Attila F. Kovács created a fundamentally new structure which places theatricality in focus by the application of extremely strong visual elements, as well as by the marked use of materials and colours.

Owing to the size of the set of buildings and the complexity of the task, Be Light delegated two project manager employees to this work, we have divided up design and implementation tasks among our engineers according to indoor and outdoor lighting technology. The starting point was identical in both cases: the lighting technology fully serves the strengthening of the architectural concept, light is applied as an architectural tool to make the visual world even stronger.

HOUSE OF FATES

As to the outdoor elements, by the application of razor-sharp structural units, the House of Fates shows a strong contrast of verticality and horizontality. In order to emphasize this as much as possible, we have designed and manufactured LED profiles along the lines, which the visitor can see on the “imposing” Italian steps descending in front of the main entrance and on the corten canopy of the main entrance, running on its upper part.

HOUSE OF FATES

The decorative lighting of the main building, enmeshed with rusty reinforced concrete fibres, was made possible thanks to with a product that is brand new in the market, the SHAPE luminaire of the manufacturer SIMES. This LED light of only 4.7W recessed in the ledge of the windows is made with special optical parts and frames the window linings with light.

HOUSE OF FATES

We have lit the lower part of the other building complex (the former railway station) by an asymmetric grazing light: the total effect is unique, as if the complex was “floating”. In summary we can say that such a lighting system has been created that attempts to contribute to the highest extent to the structure of the House of Fates, simultaneously strengthening its determining visual world.
